Smiles

Lydia is smiling a lot. We can just look at her or say her name and her whole face lights up. She has been a difficult baby to please, so seeing her eyes and nose crinkle and her little mouth make that joyful upward turn is incredibly rewarding.

It is so fun to watch her respond to her brothers and sisters. She squeaked out a giggle yesterday and had them all laughing in hysterics. Who needs tv when you have entertainment like this?

Sigourney is especially enamored with "her" baby. She loves to hold her and give her great big bear hugs, all supervised of course (except for that time she pulled Lydia off the bed, but I digress...). Sigourney puts her face so close Lydia's that it makes her cross-eyed. She then says "yi-ya" to get the desired result and bursts into her own giggles. They do this repeatedly and I've got to tell you, it makes a mama smile too!

Lydia doesn't crawl or walk or pick things up yet. She doesn't have teeth and hasn't started on solid foods, but she's smiling. Coincidental? I don't think so. What I do think is that smiling must be pretty important to God.

He will yet fill your mouth with laughing, and your lips with rejoicing. Job 8:21
